Like Father Like Son

Ever since Tabitha met our mother, something about her changed. The eyes she looked at me when we were kids darkened. I knew she found it unfair that my father gave me preferential treatment compared to my siblings. I understood and found it unfair as well. She just seemed intent on trying to make me do what she wants and making herself more powerful.

I heard rumors of what she did to some men: strip them of their masculinity and make them recognize her as their master, not even mistress. She had secured a lot of contracts that way, earning her hospitals fame and recognition in the house of the government and medical organizations.

You’d think our father would be proud, thanks to her striking resemblance to mum, it's only earned her scorning. Since then, she had been hell-bent on getting the upper hand. And my tryst with Olivia was the perfect thing she needed.

“Did you know that our father once hired a maid,” Tabitha started to say. “He just looked at her and hired her on the spot.”

I knew the maid she was referring to.

“You see I did a little digging and found out that before his new step wife,” she continued. “Our father had been sleeping with this maid and only gave her the job so he could continue sleeping with her.”

I glanced over at Olivia who wore a sullen expression. She was still feeling bad about being caught.

“Did you know some people started recognizing father's flaws?” Tabitha asked. “that's why he was in a hurry to get married again…to show people that he has changed and is ready to settle down.”

“But I ask you how many women he has slept with?” She continued. “The blackmail, the buying out, and everything. All sins of his that will never go away. Yet there is a chance that it might repeat itself, not through him but maybe a version of him - his child.”

“Get straight to the point,” I growled, “what do you want?”

“God so impatient. I guess the face isn't all you inherited from him.” She rolled her eyes. “I'm blackmailing you, big brother, but I just want to let you in on something.”

“Then what is it?” I asked.

“The thing is, among us siblings, younger siblings, that is, we've been worried that you would take after father,” she explained as she placed her phone into her pocket, “I mean you have already replicated his method of monitoring our private lives.”

“I don't monitor your private lives with the intent to harm any of you,” I corrected.

“It doesn't make it any better,” she said. “You claim to be different from Dad but to be honest we all know that you're just his copy waiting to have the opportunity to manifest.”

“You aren't as righteous as you claim to be,” she concluded. “Take for instance Olivia.” She turned her gaze to Olivia. “One of the maids told me about the recent situation. And the conclusion was that our friend here and the incoming stepmother are the same in actions.
